LES completed construction of Venice Park Development’s 1.6 megawatt facility in March of 1992. The facility is located in Lennon, Michigan which is approximately fifteen miles west of Flint. The plant uses two Caterpillar 3516 engine generator sets and sells the electricity produced to Consumers Power Company.
Venice Park Development owns and operates both the power plant and the 80 acre landfill. Half of the landfill is dedicated to gas recovery and produces 0.9 million cubic feet of landfill gas per day. Landfill Energy Systems was responsible for all design, engineering, equipment supply and construction services. This facility was designed to allow the addition of a third engine in the future which would bring the plants gross output up to 2.4 megawatts.
