The Adrian Energy Associates facility is a 2.4 megawatt power plant. The plant is located at Great Lakes Waste Services Adrian Landfill in Adrian, Michigan, approximately 40 miles south of Ann Arbor. Landfill Energy Systems was responsible for the design, construction and commissioning of both the generating plant and the adjacent blower/flare station. The plant began commercial operation in December 1994 and exports 2.5 megawatts to Consumers Power Company.
The Adrian plant’s design is based on three Caterpillar 3516 spark ignited turbo charged and aftercooled lean burn engine generator sets. The electricity produced by the plant is transported three quarters of a mile where it is tied into the Consumers Power distribution grid. The Adrian facility generates power to supply electricity to almost 2,600 homes and businesses in the area.
Adrian Energy Associates is a joint venture which is 50% owned by Landfill Energy Systems. LES is also responsible for the operations and maintenance of the generating plant, the blower/flare station and the collection system.
