Riverview Energy Systems  Riverview, MI - 6600 kw
Riverview Energy Systems (RES) was installed in 1986 as the first landfill gas-to-energy project for Landfill Energy Systems.  The Riverview facility utilizes two Solar T-4500 gas turbines and produces 6.6 megawatts of power which is sold to the Detroit Edison Company.  RES is owned, operated and maintained by a partnership between Landfill Energy Systems and Detroit Edison.

The 178 acre landfill is owned and operated by the City of Riverview.  There are over 200 methane gas wells throughout the 120 acres which are dedicated to gas recovery.  The Riverview Landfill produces 4.3 million cubic feet of gas per day.  This allows the plant to produce electricity for 7200 homes.

RES gained national recognition when it was highlighted in a January 10, 1992 segment on ABC's 20/20.  In addition to the generating plant, the Riverview Landfill is home to a golf course and a small ski mountain.
